LG G Pad is a slender, metal, Full HD quad-core tablet (pictures)
The LG G Pad 8.3 packs a Full HD display and a beefy quad-core processor into an attractive, slender metal body.
BERLIN -- LG took the wraps off its new slate, the G Pad 8.3, a few days ago, but this is the first time it's allowed anyone in for a closer look. The G Pad 8.3 is an 8-inch tablet, with a quad-core processor, a Full HD screen, and an attractive aluminum-backed body.
LG hasn't yet said how much the tablet will cost, but it's due to go on sale toward the end of the year, so keep your eyes peeled nearer the time.
The back is mostly aluminum, with white accents at the top and bottom. There's a black model too, if white doesn't suit.
There's a 5-megapixel camera tucked into the back.
Dual speaker grilles have been cut into the aluminum back panel.
It's 8.3 millimeters thick, so it's easy to slide into a bag. You'll need quite wide pockets to get it into your jeans though.
The buttons on the side are metal too, helping it feel like a bit more of a premium device.
There's a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top and it has a microSD card slot on the side.
The two-tone effect is a little reminiscent of some of HTC's early phones, but it's not unattractive.
It's easy enough to wrap your hands around and it's not too heavy to hold up for an hour or so.
