This is your laptop on 4K

It's not great for battery life, but damn if they don't look nice. Here are eight excellent options for going high-res on your next laptop.

He also covers almost anything connected to a PC, including keyboards, mice, USB-C docks and PC gaming accessories. In addition, he writes about cameras, including action cams and drones. And while he doesn't consider himself a gamer, he spends entirely too much time playing them.

You can have all the pixels

Still not sold on the value of having a 4K UHD-resolution display on a laptop? Maybe one of these will change your mind.

Lenovo Yoga 910

The Lenovo Yoga 910 fits more screen into less space with a 13.9-inch display in the body of a 13-inch laptop.

The 2-in-1 design lets you use the 3,840x2,160-pixel touch display as a tablet, though it doesn't have the graphics chops to handle anything too demanding like gaming at its full resolution.

HP Spectre x360 (13-inch, 2017)

The smaller Spectre's 13.3-inch 3,840x2,160 touch display works great as a tablet and supports pen input.

Wacom MobileStudio Pro 16

One of the best uses for a 4K display is for editing photos. The extra resolution lets you zoom in and examine fine details, such as on Wacom's Windows tablet PC.

The 15.6-inch 3,840x2,160 touch display is great for illustration, too, and gives you extra space for tool panels you wouldn't have at lower resolutions.

Razer Blade Pro (late 2016)

The Blade Pro's 17.3-inch touch-screen display (3,840x2,160 pixels) produced vivid colors and sharp fine details that pay off when you're taking advantage of the GeForce GTX 1080's capabilities.

HP Spectre x360 (15-inch, 2017)

It's responsive for both pen and touch, and not exceptionally reflective, with good contrast and saturation that should work for watching video, surfing the web and working.

HP Omen 17

It's sharp with excellent color performance and the system's 8GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 is strong enough to run demanding games at the screen's full resolution at high settings.

However, as with other 4K versus FHD (full HD) comparisons we've tested, the 4K display takes a big chunk out of battery life.

Razer Blade Stealth (2016)

Though you might think of Razer's laptops as strictly for gaming, the 13-inch 3,840x2,160-pixel touchscreen on the Stealth is good enough for professional use.
