Kyocera's DuraForce XD and DuraXE can take a beating and a dunk (pictures)

At CES 2016, Kyocera and AT&T introduced two new waterproof and rugged handsets: the big-screen DuraForce XD smartphone and the DuraXE flip-phone.

The DuraForce XD features a 5.7-inch screen and is one of the biggest Kyocera devices we've seen so far. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop and has a 720p resolution.

With its rugged exterior, the handset is pretty hefty. But it's also dust- and shockproof and can withstand extreme cold and hot temperatures.

The phone can be submerged in up to six feet of water for 30 minutes and will keep on ticking (that is, if all its ports and seams are safely secured).

The DuraForce XD has an 8-megapixel rear camera that can shoot 1,080p video and a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter.

Powering the device is a 1.6GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor and a 3,700mAh battery.

The DuraXE is a durable flip-phone and has a 2.6-inch, 240p display.

It features a 1.1GHz Snapdragon quad-core processor, 8GB of internal storage that can expand up to 32GB, and 1GB of RAM.

Though the device doesn't have a touchscreen, it does have an alphanumeric keypad.

Like the DuraForce XD, the DuraXE is a rugged phone and can be dunked in six feet of water for 30 minutes, too.

For your camera needs, the phone has a 5-megapixel camera.
