Karma SC2 concept backs sharp design with bold 1,100 horsepower claim

On the eve of the 2019 LA Auto show, Karma Automotive debuted the battery electric SC2 concept, which looks a lot like the SC1 concept with a roof.

Fully electric and sharply styled, the SC2 represents some bold performance claims.

The automaker estimates the coupe will do 0-to-60 mph in less than 1.9 seconds thanks to 1,100 horsepower on tap.

Front and rear electric motors are said to deliver up to 10,500 pound-feet of torque. Nope, that's not a typo; it's over ten thousand!

The concept also features advanced technologies, including biometric access and Racing Simulation and Gaming Experience tech that allows users to practice their racing line before hitting the track.

A full suite of driver aid technologies and sensors sets the SC2 concept up for future autonomous driving tech.

Oh, right. This is an EV, you're probably curious about the range. Karma claims around 350 miles per battery charge.

Multihinge doors echo those of the SC1, granting both concepts a dramatic appearance when entering and exiting.
