iSmartAlarm's Spot can 'hear' your smoke detector (pictures)
iSmartAlarm's new $99 Spot security camera can tell the difference between a "regular" sound and a smoke or carbon monoxide alert.
iSmartAlarm's US-only Spot security camera costs just $99.
It delivers prompt motion and sound alerts.
It's also easy to set up via the related Android and iOS app.
The bendy, magnetic base is a snap to install.
And, the camera comes with a microSD card slot for folks who prefer local storage over a remote cloud server. (Spot also offers free 30-clip cloud storage on a rolling basis.)
Spot can also tell the difference between a "standard" sound and a smoke or carbon monoxide detector -- and will issue a custom alert, as needed.
The base is pretty flexible for optimal angling, although the plastic doesn't feel particularly durable.
IFTTT integration is also in the works.
iSmartAlarm can also create time-lapses of events throughout your day.
The 720p high-definition resolution is pretty crisp.
Rotate it to portrait view, and you can access more of the settings.
Here's where you can customize the types of alerts you want to receive, as well as the sensitivity of the motion and sound sensors.
