The iPhone's camera did relatively well in broad daylight.
The camera also did a decent job taking pictures in the shade. But it couldn't quite handle the contrast to bright light. Notice how the building on the left side blends into the background.
The iPhone isn't so great for distant scenery; far away objects looked rather fuzzy.
It wasn't half bad with close-up shots, but light colors blended into one another.
Without a flash, the iPhone camera is not optimized for night shots.
Cars driving by at night became little more than streaks of light.
Shots taken in overcast weather were decent, if a bit dark.
Motion in brightly lit shots tended to be blurry.
The camera did show colors well.
The iPhone did well with our test image taken in CNET's photo studio.
