Images: Fun with iPhoto's face recognition
New feature in latest version of iPhoto does pretty well identifying who's who, but the real fun begins when it gets it wrong--sometimes very wrong.
Cat Osterman
CNET News reporter Ina Fried recently played around with the Faces feature--designed to recognize who's who--in the latest version of iPhoto, which came out just a few weeks ago.
The face recognition feature had plenty of matches, but it also thought USA softball pitching ace Cat Osterman was our family friend Ray.
Brandon
This is Brandon, our friend's 3-year-old, as correctly recognized by iPhoto.
Bill Gates
This is not Brandon, our friend's 3-year-old, but rather a software company co-founder. Oh, what is his name? To be fair, the picture is a bit fuzzy.
Snowmanda
The software recognized a face out of the snow woman that I built in Tahoe earlier this month and let us tag it--Snowmanda.
Snowmanda
After tagging the first photo, it even recognized Snowmanda in future pictures.
Lemur
And, this is my personal favorite. iPhoto thought this image might actually be of my friend Rachel. Sorry, Rachel.
