iDevices Thermostat looks smart...from a distance
A glossy face belies weak usability, over-complicated setup, and too few features.
Syncing the Thermostat to the iDevices app is the easiest part of setup and takes less than a minute. But remember, the app is only iOS-compatible, so Android users will have to find another thermostat.
Wiring can be tricky for any thermostat installation, so the directions for the iDevices Thermostat recommend taking a picture of your previous wiring setup to make installation easier.
As with all HomeKit products, the Thermostat will live in one of the "Rooms" in your home, organized alongside any other HomeKit products you have installed.
The four touch-sensitive buttons on the face of the Thermostat control the small rectangular screen in the center.
Using HomeKit protocols, you can easily program various command schedules to fit your living patterns. If you leave every weekday at 8 a.m. and get back at 4 p.m., you can make sure your home is heated to the right temperature at the right times.
As with almost any thermostat, the iDevices one will let you control your home's temperature with the press of a button.
Using the iDevices app, anyone who has permission to access your home devices can set the temperature remotely.
The iDevices Thermostat is now available on the iDevices online store and at select Lowe's locations for $150. Check out the full review for more details.
