HyperX keyboards go small and colourful

The two new keyboards shown off at Computex 2017 take HyperX's excellent peripherals on diverging paths.

HyperX Alloy Elite RGB

HyperX showed off two new mechanical keyboards at Computex 2017 in Taiwan. The first was its premium Alloy Elite RGB, the first peripheral in its range with RGB backlighting.

You can switch the colour modes and display on the go, as well as toggle game mode on and off with dedicated buttons.

Unlike the Alloy FPS, the new keyboard's replaceable keycaps are silver, not red.

It also has a built-in palm rest and numpad, so it's not exactly compact.

The mechanical keys use Cherry MX switches, and you can get Red, Brown or Blue to add clackiness and travel to your taste.

There's also a powered USB port on the back for charging, as with the Alloy FPS Mechanical Keyboard.

HyperX Alloy FPS Pro

The Alloy FPS Pro was the other keyboard on show. Rather that big and bright, this one wanted to keep it all tight.

It again offered options of three Cherry MX switches: Red, Brown and Blue.

HyperX Alloy FPS Pro

Like the Alloy FPS mechanical keyboard released by HyperX last year, this is a no-frills mechanical keyboard on a very low-profile steel base.

Dropping the numpad has kept it even smaller, but it does mean losing the USB port on the rear egde.

Both keyboards are looking at a Q3 release, but there's no word on pricing just yet. Check out more of CNET's Computex 2017 coverage here.
