HTC Rhyme (Verizon Wireless)

The HTC Rhyme has a design that won't appeal to everyone, but it's still a stylish and functional Android phone. It's available now from Verizon Wireless for $199.99 with a two-year contract.

Design

Like many of HTC's phones, the Rhyme features an aluminum unibody design along with a soft-touch finish to give a luxurious feel. The handset only measures 4.69 inches tall by 2.39 inches wide by 0.43 inch thick, so it's compact, too.

Left side

On the left spine, you'll find a Micro-USB port; there's a volume rocker on the right side. Sadly, there is no dedicated camera key anywhere.

The top of the phone houses a 3.5mm headphone jack and a power/lock key.

Accessories

Another unique aspect of the HTC Rhyme is that it comes bundled with a few extra accessories, including tangle-free headphones and a cell phone charm. The latter consists of a small cube hanging off the end of a wire that you plug into the handset's headphone jack. When you have an incoming call, the cube will light up and blink and alert you to the new call or missed calls.

Desktop dock

The HTC Rhyme also comes with a desktop dock, which is a great accessory. It charges your phone, while also acting as an alarm clock, digital frame, and speaker system.

Camera

On back, you'll find the Rhyme's main 5-megapixel camera and flash. The camera app offers a number of editing options and tools, and it can also capture 720p HD video.

Picture quality

Like a lot of camera phones, the Rhyme didn't perform all that well in low-light conditions. Photos looked a bit soft, and colors were washed out.
