HTC HD2 (photos)

We've been dying to get our hands on the HTC HD2 ever since we saw it at CTIA Fall 2009, and we finally had the chance. Check out CNET's photo gallery here.

HTC HD2 (unlocked)

The HTC HD2 is a Windows Mobile 6.5 smartphone that is currently available unlocked for around $650. However, T-Mobile will offer the device this spring and will bundle it with a bunch of entertainment apps. A specific release date and pricing has not been revealed yet.

HTC Sense

The HD2 is one of HTC's first Windows Mobile phones to use its Sense user experience. Sense offers a customizable home screen that provides easy access to all your apps and also extends into features like the music player.

Huge display

The centerpiece of the HTC HD2 is its extralarge 4.3-inch WVGA capacitive touch screen. It's vibrant and sharp and offers multitouch support.

HTC HD2 vs Nexus One

The Nexus One's 3.7-inch AMOLED screen looks rather small and pale compared with the HD2's display.

Spacious keyboard

The large display allows for a spacious onscreen keyboard, both in landscape and portrait mode.

Large and in charge

The trade-off of having such a large display is a bulky design. At 4.74 inches tall by 2.64 inches wide and 5.54 ounces, the smartphone is quite a beast and isn't the most pocketable device. The large size will probably be a turn-off to some.

Thin profile

We have to say though, with its massive 4.3-inch touch screen and all of its feature, the HD2 is remarkably thin at just 0.43 inches.

Picture quality

Overall, we were very pleased with the camera's performance. Objects were clearly defined in photos and even in dimly lit environments, the colors were still bright.
