HTC at MWC 2011 (photos)

HTC held its press conference inside a theater at Teatre Lliure, just outside of the Fira de Barcelona convention center. The company would go on to introduce three new Android smartphones, two Facebook handsets, and its first tablet.

Here HTC Chief Marketing Officer John Wang introduces the successors to three of its popular Android smartphones: the HTC Incredible S, the HTC Desire S, and the HTC Wildfire S.

The oft-rumored Facebook is now a reality, and there are actually two of them: the HTC ChaCha and the HTC Salsa. The ChaCha features a full QWERTY keyboard, while the Salsa is an all touch-screen device.

Facebook representatives, including a recorded video by Mark Zuckerberg, said they were excited about the partnership and added it was the beginning of many interesting things.

Both the HTC ChaCha (shown here) and Salsa will feature a dedicated Facebook button, which takes the user directly to Facebook, so you can update your status, share stories, upload photos, and more. The button is also context-aware, so if you're taking a picture, for example, the button will light up to remind you that you can upload the photo directly to Facebook.

The full lineup of cell phones introduced by HTC at Mobile World Congress 2011. All of the handsets are expected to ship in Europe and Asia in Q2, and the HTC Salsa and ChaCha will come to the U.S. later in the year as an AT&T exclusive.

With so many of its competitors coming out with tablets, it's really no surprise that HTC introduced its first at MWC.

However, the company made it very clear that it didn't enter the tablet scene just to be a "me too" mentality; rather it took its time to study and develop the best user experience on a tablet.

The Flyer's features include a 7-inch touch screen, a 1.5GHz processor, 1GB RAM and 32GB ROM, along with a 5-megapixel camera, a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera, HSPA+ support, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.

The Flyer will run HTC Sense, which has been redesigned to work in a tablet environment. Here they show off a 3D carousel of widgets.

The Flyer integrates HTC's Scribe technology, so you can use a digital pen to take notes right on the tablet. A feature called Timemark also lets you record audio to sync up with your written notes.

The tablet will also come loaded with HTC's new download service, HTC Watch. With it, you can get HD movies from major studios.

Recently, HTC invested in cloud-based gaming service OnLive and already we're seeing the results of this partnership, as you'll be able to access OnLive's library of games and play them right on the tablet or on your TV over a broadband wireless connection
