Disconnect power

Before installing your dishwasher, unpack it from the box it came in. For both, disconnect the power before you start messing with any wires.

Remove the kick plate

Next, remove the kick plate. You'll need access to what's under it to both install and uninstall your dishwasher.

Locate the junction box

Next, locate the power and water connections on the dishwasher itself. The power connection will be in a junction box like the one pictured above.

Locate the water connection

The main water connection will look like this.

Push the dishwasher into place

If the connections are on the front under the kick plate, push the dishwasher into place before connecting anything. Connect the cables to the dishwasher first if the connections are on the back of the unit. To push the dishwasher in place, tilt it back. Most units have wheels on the back corners.

Connect the pipes

Install the water pipe to your water source (most likely under your sink). Turn your water on once it's secured and watch for leaks. Install your drain hose as well.

Reversing the steps

When you uninstall the dishwasher, you'll reverse the process for disconnecting the power and water. Before you pull the dishwasher out, look for the anchors holding it in place and unscrew them.
