Hidden details of Toy Story Land
Disney made sure everything in this new land looked like it was made by Andy in his backyard. Even the trash cans.
At Toy Story Land in Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida, you become an honorary toy to play with Woody and the gang in Andy's backyard.
And since you're living in the toy world, everything is built by Andy, with pieces of toys, boxes and hand-drawn notes.
We got an early look at the detailed land before it opens to the public.
The bathroom is swarming with Cooties.
Andy made us benches out of old Popsicle sticks. He's so thoughtful.
The land has two new rides. One is Alien Swirling Saucers. This is a Pizza Planet toy, where the aliens swing you around in spaceships.
What's that beyond Buzz? Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy Edge themed land is under construction right next door.
I think I spy the Black Spire. But we'll have to wait until fall of 2019 for the Star Wars expansion to open in Florida.
Better follow the orders of the Green Army Men.
The line for the Alien Swirling Saucers ride is made out of packaging from the Pizza Planet toys and Buzz Lightyear play sets.
Look close and you'll spot hidden references. At Airlock Alpha there's Bay 1 and Bay 13.... A-1... A-13.... or A113, a popular Pixar Easter egg.
The preboarding guide video is presented as an instruction book.
Refueling stations.
Why are aliens driving people around? Disney has a story for everything. Here, the aliens are pizza-delivering toy mascots for Pizza Planet.
This is going to be a big selfie spot.
Andy was really nice to put some bricks together to make trash cans.
Andy doesn't want you to get lost, so he made these guide signs.
The Green Army Men are hard at work all over the 11-acre land.
The merchandise cart is made from a Fisher-Price truck.
Are you tall enough to ride Slinky Dog Dash? Check with this Candy Land token.
Andy merged his Dash & Dodge Mega Coaster set with a Slinky Dog to create the best ride in the land: Slinky Dog Dash.
The original packaging for Slinky Dog is in the ride waiting area.
You can see the roof of the loading area is built out of the Dash & Dodge coaster set box.
And it's also held up by his books. Mr. Pricklepants belonged to Bonnie in Toy Story 3, but it seems Andy also knew of this character.
Another book from Andy's collection. Slinky Dog comes from a land of Slinky creatures.
Andy's concept art for his roller coaster. Wait... what's the shark pit?
Go, doggy, go! (It's a kid's ride, so don't expect it to be intense -- but it is pretty fun.)
Hungry? Grab some grub at Woody's Lunchbox. It's made up of juice boxes, animal crackers and whatever Mom packed.
Little Babybel cheese wheels and a note from Mom make up the seating area.
An old ride gets a new entrance.
Toy Story Mania has been around for awhile, but now there's new things to see as you wait to enter Andy's bedroom. (And some parts are still being worked on.)
Inside the line for Toy Story Mania, there's lots of fun things to see.
There's also a new Etch-a-Sketch that shows different messages.
Jessie and Rex cheer you on during the Slinky Dog Dash coaster.
The rides are good for little kids, but adults should get a kick out of it, too.
Saucers playset ride at night.
You'll learn the backstory to some characters in line. Wheezy's original box shows he was a bath toy... with a warning that he should not be submerged in water. No wonder his squeaker stopped squeaking.
Andy did a good job with the lights at night.
