Here's the colourful, selfie-loving HTC Desire 820 (pictures)

The HTC Desire 820 is a 5.5-inch Android phone with a 64-bit octa-core processor and an 8-megapixel front-facing camera for the ultimate selfie.

It's part of HTC's Desire 8 range, which is intended to be a more affordable option to its flagship One M8, although prices and regional availability aren't known at the time of writing.

The phone has a polycarbonate design that's available in a range of bright colours.

Each phone has a primary colour with different coloured accents around the camera lens, buttons and edges. I think they look great fun.

Like most of HTC's phones, you'll find the Boomsound speakers above and below the screen.

The speakers won't be as powerful as the One M8's, but I'm hoping they have sufficient volume for YouTube browsing in bed.

It has HTC's latest Sense 6 software on board, including the Blinkfeed scrolling news aggregator.

Although it has a big screen, it's only 7.7mm thick, making it easy to slide into a pocket.

HTC says it's the first phone in the world to use Qualcomm's latest Octa-core processor. It's a 64-bit chip that's actually made up of two quad-core processors -- a lower powered one for everyday tasks and a more potent one for intense work.

It has an 8-megapixel front facing camera which is a massive amount for a front camera.

A 13-megapixel camera sits on the back, which HTC says is really good in low light.

Although made of plastic, it doesn't feel particularly flimsy or cheap.

The SIM card and microSD card slots are hidden under a flap on the side.

The buttons have a nice colour accent around them.
