Up close with the Glion Dolly folding electric scooter

The Glion Dolly, an $850, £699 or roughly AU$1,100 folding electric scooter, is a quick and easy way to get to work from the bus or train. It's got a pretty neat trick up its sleeves, too... (next slide)

It's the only folding electric scooter we've seen with a pull-out trolley handle and tiny luggage wheels, so you can roll it around like a suitcase.

The Glion Dolly stands by itself vertically, too, another unique feature so far.

It's also one of the fastest folding electric scooters to fold.

The grips have magnetic catches which snap right into place.

Sadly, it doesn't use the highest quality materials. The grips are made of some pretty cheap, yucky plastic, and the battery readout scratches easy and is hard to read in bright light. No cushions on the grips, either.

The rear electric brake doesn't slow down the Glion as quickly as I'd like, and the 250 watt motor doesn't do great with hills.

Also, what's missing in this image? Suspension. It's a bumpy ride.

I do like the compact deck, even if I can't put both feet one in front of the other -- but the battery inside didn't take my (admittedly heavy body) more than 8 miles on a charge.

Overall, I think the Glion Dolly does the job, but I'd pay more for a lighter version with added suspension and more battery life.
