Geek joy for the smartest alarm clock ever
Beddi isn't just an alarm clock. It's a wannabe smart-home mastermind.
"Beddi" is a Kickstarter-funded smart alarm clock that's available right now. We spent a week testing it out, and think it might be one of our new favorites. Click through to see everything it can do.
Simple design
Beddi sports a clean, minimalist design, and comes in either black or gray, seen here.
Buttons
On top you've got three programmable smart buttons on the left, a snooze bar in the middle and buttons for controlling volume and audio playback on the right.
Phone dock
There's also a slot for docking your phone as it charges each night. It's plenty big enough for phones with bulky cases.
Plugged in
You'll still need to plug in, though -- fortunately, you'll find a pair of USB charging ports on the back of the clock. You'll also want to pair your phone with Beddi over Bluetooth, and download the Beddi app -- that's where all the extra features and controls are located.
LED undercarriage
If you want, you can turn on a set of color-changing LEDs on the bottom of the clock. You can set them to a specific color and brightness, or just let them cycle through the rainbow.
Wake-up lighting, too
There's also an LED panel on the back of the device that can fade on each morning to help ease you awake.
Ports!
While we're back here, let's take a closer look at those ports. You get a pair of USB charging ports, one of which is powerful enough to charge tablets.
Smart-home compatibility
One of Beddi's best features is that it can control a wide variety of popular smart-home gadgets, including ones seen here from names like WeMo, Lifx and Philips Hue.
Sync up in the Beddi app
You'll sync everything up right in the Beddi app. Once you do, you'll be able to control your gadgets using those three smart buttons.
Bedside lighting
Syncing up with smart bulbs seems like a a great way to turn the lights off when it's time for bed, and then turn things on when you're waking up.
Presto!
See? Super cool. On top of all of that, Beddi can read off the day's weather forecast, let you know how your morning commute looks, stream Spotify playlists, and even order an Uber.
Worth it?
Beddi costs $99 -- not cheap, but not outrageous, either. Is it worth splurging on? Check out our full review for the final verdict!
