GE's new LED really Stiks it to ya (pictures)

The new "Bright Stik" LED might look a little odd, but at $10 for a three-pack, it's a pretty compelling value.

GE Bright Stik LED

That's not a Push Pop -- that's GE's new LED light bulb. Called the Bright Stik, it's an oddly shaped light with an awfully attractive price point. Click through for the details.

The specs

The Bright Stik will fit into standard US sockets, and put out roughly the same amount of light as a 60W incandescent bulb.

Directionality

Despite its shape, the Bright Stik manages to cast plenty of light in all directions.

Efficiency

You'll get that light from a power draw of just 10W -- replace one of those 60W incandescents with one, and you'll you'll shave five or six bucks off your yearly power bill.

Non-dimmable

The Bright Stik isn't dimmable, so don't get it if you're hoping to dial the lights down low without a heavy flicker.

Light output

The Bright Stik puts its light out at a warm, yellowy color temperature of 2,850 K. A 5,000 K "daylight" version that shines closer to the blue end of the spectrum is also available.

Warranty

The Bright Stik comes with a 5-year warranty, which is about as good as you'll find in an LED that costs less than $10.

Price point

GE is selling the Bright Stik in three-packs at Home Depot for $10 each -- a little over $3 per bulb. That's a pretty outstanding value, but is the Bright Stik solid enough to merit buying in? Check out the full review for the whole story.
