Hands-on with the Garmin Vivoactive HR (pictures)

The Vivoactive HR is an all-day fitness tracker that can measure steps, distance traveled, calories burned, floors climbed, active minutes and sleep.

There's an optical heart-rate sensor on the back.

The watch is a little bulky, though.

But it's also waterproof up to 50 meters.

It's not as big as the Fitbit Surge (left)

The always-on screen is easy to see outdoors, even on sunny days.

It can also display notifications from your iPhone or Android device.

There is a graph that shows heart rate data right on one of the homes screens.

Plus, there's GPS for tracking a variety of activities, including running, cycling, swimming, golfing, rowing and even paddle boarding.

Overall, we like the Vivoactive HR.

It's a good watch for active consumers.

All of the data recorded by the watch is uploaded to the Garmin Connect mobile app.

But it shows a ton of information.
