IFA 2014 in Berlin is just around the corner, and the crown of the show is expected to be Samsung's fourth Galaxy Note smartphone.

We're expecting an even bigger display, plus new S Pen features. If you're keen to see how Samsung's larger phones have shifted the smartphone status quo, check out this video feature.

LG has already shown its hand -- well, wrist -- ahead of IFA, unveiling the G Watch R smartwatch. It runs Android Wear, has a 1.3-inch plastic OLED display with a 320x320-pixel resolution, and is powered by a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 400 processor.

LG also has a new monitor that looks likely to spruce up any desk. The 21:9 Curved UltraWide Monitor boasts a massive resolution of 3,440x1,440 pixels. We're looking forward to pointing our peepers at this one.

IFA isn't just about fancy phones and watches. LG's Music Flow speaker channels tunes through your various gadgets, but promises to keep playing your music on your phone when you leave the house. We'll be keen to hear how it sounds.

One of the biggest trends in the last few years has been really good, cheap Android phones. The Archos 50b Platinum will be on show at IFA 2014, and packs a quad-core chip and an 8-megapixel camera, for just £119, or $149.

Forget Archos' phones though, because here's the company's Music Beany, a woolie wearable that brings a much-needed tech overhaul to the humble hat. Okay, it's faintly ridiculous, but hey, at least it's something different! We'll be donning this high-tech headwear at the show next week.

This cryptic teaser is for a new Asus smartwatch. Rumours suggest it could be cheaper than the wearable watches we've seen so far.

There's some telly news inbound, too. Samsung has confirmed that it plans to add a host of services and games to its smart TV portfolio. Skype and popular racing title Need for Speed: Most Wanted will be among the new features in the latest expansion.

HTC has had a rough time in the last few years, struggling to compete against the might of Samsung. As such, we're hoping for something interesting from its latest round of smartphones. The HTC Desire 510 is one phone we know about already. It's going to be very cheap, sport a 4.7-inch display and it's made of plastic. Oh, and it's 4G-capable.

The tech world is a competitive place, and IFA 2014 will see plenty of tech companies using the show to try and get an edge over their biggest rivals.

It's no surprise, then, that Sennheiser will be taking the opportunity to showcase its new CX headphones, which feature a colour palette that takes aim at the hugely popular Beats by Dr Dre.
