Split freezer

That split allows Samsung to make the right half into a "FlexZone" with its own distinct temperature presets. Though it defaults to freezer mode (0 degrees F), you can dial it up as high as 41 F if you need extra storage space for fresh groceries.

Freezer performance

At its lowest setting, the FlexZone's performance (red) is indistinguishable from the freezer itself (blue). Both offer near-perfect performance.

Secret switch

Coldest setting

The fridge performed well at the coldest setting, too. For this test, we dialed the FlexZone up to its warmest setting of 41 degrees F. It did just fine without affecting the other compartments.
