At MWC 2015, Ford took the wraps off its MoDe:Pro and MoDe:Me electric bike prototypes, which connect to the Apple iPhone 6.

BARCELONA -- At a press event today, Ford unveiled its smart-connected bicycle concept. The MoDe:Me e-bike is aimed at the urban commuter.

The car company also showcased its MoDe:Pro, a more industrial bicycle meant for commercial use, such as courier and delivery services.
A design challenge
Ford says it challenged its employees to come up with a concept model for an e-bike. These two designs won out.
Integration with Apple iPhone 6
The e-bikes were designed to work with the Apple iPhone 6. Here, you see the handset mounted and displaying directions.
Haptic feedback for directions
When a route is decided on, the bike's handlebar will provide haptic feedback -- that is, it'll vibrate -- when you need to turn left or right.
Light-up handlebars
Safety lights on the handlebar flash while you're turning.
A rear bike-rack
The MoDe:Pro has an optional rear rack. Sensors on the back of the bike let you know when a car is coming too fast from behind. The bike can then vibrate to warn you, and flash lights to warn the approaching driver.
Folding up for storage
Both e-bikes can fold up and store in the trunk of a car, or in bike racks. Here, a Ford van is outfitted with racks to hold the MoDe:Pro.
A smarter commute
Though in its early concept stages, the Ford e-bikes aim to help cyclists stay safe and ride efficiently with other drivers and public transport vehicles during their commute. Click here for more of CNET's coverage of MWC 2015.
