Photographer: Dicky Tong
Speciality: weddings, portraiture, documentary
Biography: Dicky was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Sydney. His interest in photography began as a hobby at the Sydney 2000 Olympics with an AU$2000 Sony DSCF717 digital camera. Dicky was also inspired by his father's travels around the world, so taking photos became a very natural thing to do.
The next camera that Dicky bought was a Canon EOS 300D, which he learned to use through reading photography magazines, websites and forums. As his experience increased, so did his camera gear. Currently, Dicky works on weddings and portraiture and his work has appeared in local papers and corporate publications in his current job in the automotive industry.
Dicky has this advice for budding photographers: "no matter what your budget, from compact to digital SLR, it should not deter you from trying to take a perfect photograph. As long as you know the camera's limitations, you can get similar results. It's how you overcome these limitations that will make you a better photographer."
More of Dicky's work can be seen on his website, Dicky Tong Photography.
