Photographer: Daniel Reitsma
Shooting subject: Cityscapes
Equipment: Canon EOS 350D , Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS lens
A carpenter by trade, Daniel has had a love for photography for many years. In 2003 he started doing a series of photos based in cities around the world, where he spends an entire 24-hour period in the chosen city taking photos of people and places.
"The cities I've done so far are London, Paris, Sydney and Melbourne. I hope to be doing New York later this year, but we'll see what happens.
"I love doing the photo shoots in the city, as you get to witness things most people never get to see, like the harbour empty except for one boat, hot air balloons over the MCG at sunrise, a tired chef taking a break...
"I pack really light and have always used Canon SLRs. At the moment, I have a Canon EOS 350D which I use with the Canon EF-S 18-55mm lens and a small tripod fixed to the camera. I find the small tripod gives you lots of different angles. With the running around, limited equipment and tiredness building, a lot of my photos have movement in them and are sometimes blurry, but I think this helps to portray the city with all of its busy and often tired people!"
This CNET.com.au Exposure gallery highlights shots from his photo series "24 Hours Sydney" and "24 Hours Melbourne". Check out more of Daniel's work at www.timeboundphotography.com.
