Christopher Chan's portfolio is the result of his two passions -- travel and photography. Originally from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Christopher has lived in Australia for the past 20 years and is currently based in Sydney. Working for an international IT company, his work has taken him to the four corners of the world, with his camera firmly in tow.
Despite his extensive travels, Christopher believes that Sydney is still one of the most photogenic cities in the world. No other city offers the mix of urban architectural as well as natural subjects in such close proximity with each other.
APECA sepia toned treatment of a strangely barren Circular Quay during the APEC 2007 weekend in September where the usual throngs were kept away by the special public holiday, transportation restrictions and tight security.
A wide angle long exposure shot of Hyde Park's signature fountain with St Mary's Cathedral in the background, taken during the magical blue hour.

In this long exposure, wide angle shot of Number One Martin Place, exaggerated angles are used to enhance the sense of speed and motion of the light trail in the foreground.
Sydney's Northern Beaches is one of my favourite locations for sunrise photos. This shot was taken from the edge of the Narrabeen Rock Pool.
This historic rock pool offers many interesting compositional opportunities with the ocean and dramatic clouds in the background.
This historic lighthouse witnessed many sea battles between the Japanese and Merchant Navy ships during the Second World War.
A long exposure was used together with the exaggerated angle to convey a futuristic Blade Runner-esque environment with this wide angle shot of a Park Street intersection.
The visit of the two Cunard oceanliners offered a historic photo opportunity. This shot captures the Queen Elizabeth 2 docked at Sydney's International Passenger Terminal and the Queen Mary 2 docked at Woolloomooloo, almost directly underneath the fireworks.
The Wave Swinger ride offers an interesting photographic subject with the wavelike motion of its riders. This shot was post processed to enhance the sense of drama.
Amusement park rides at night offer endless creative possibilities for long exposure shots.
This was taken at the Mona Vale rock pool and it captures a surfer preparing to enter the flow of the water. A longer exposure was used to create the milky effect of the water while keeping the exposure short enough to keep the surfer in sharp focus.
This is a high dynamic range photo of a Sydney Harbour Bridge sunset. This scene was created post production using three different exposures.
A wide angle exposure of the Harbour Bridge from Milsons Point. The Opera House in the background is bathed in pink to promote breast cancer awareness.
This is a high dynamic range photo of The Domain. This scene was created post production using three different exposures.
Turimetta Beach is one of my favourite Northern Beaches locations. The moss covered rock platform provides endless creative compositional opportunities.
