In this shot, I wanted to capture the intricate metal work of the iconic Paris structure in silhouette. Luckily, on that day there was a large puddle of water under the tower and I used that to capture the reflection of busy tourists and Parisians. This photo was originally captured in colour and was converted to black and white using Adobe Lightroom.

Exposure: 1/160, f/22.0, 12mm, ISO 320

Long distance

This is a photo of the popular Danbo toy. I wanted to portray long distance relationships.

A dramatic sunrise

To get to Warriewood, NSW, where this photo was taken, was quite dangerous but in the end it was worth the adventure. It's a good thing my photo buddy, Kenny, was crazy enough to come with me and take some photos. This is a photo of rock shelves along Warriewood during sunrise. I combined two photos using Photoshop to expose for the sky and the foreground.

Exposure: two seconds, f/18, 12mm, ISO 250

The tree

A photograph of Kevin Draper's sculpture entitled Fragment. This sculpture was part of the Sculpture By the Sea event at Bondi in 2009. It was a very cloudy day, but as it turned out the clouds made for a really dramatic sky. This photo was converted to black and white using Adobe Lightroom.

Exposure: 1/1250, f/4.0, 12mm, ISO 500

A momentous day

This photo was taken at sunrise at Turimetta Beach in NSW. It's one of my favourite locations for seascape shots thanks to the beautiful rock shelves covered in vivid green weeds.

Exposure: 1/4, f/18, 12mm, ISO 200

Sydney sunset

This is a photo of Sydney's Luna Park Ferris wheel. I wanted to capture the silhouette of the Ferris wheel and the passengers watching the beautiful Sydney sunset.

A splash of purple and green

I wanted to compose this shot in a way that made the flower look like an umbrella. I also like how this photo looks similar to a painting.

Exposure: 1/320, f/3.2, 60mm, ISO 200

Forresters

This was the second time Kenny, my photo buddy, and I visited Forresters beach. On our first visit, the sky was covered with ominous dark clouds. We both knew we had to visit this location again at some point.

Taking photos outdoors is a matter of luck in terms of getting that perfect sky. Luckily, on our second visit we had a very colourful sunrise. I used a 0.6 GND Lee filter for this shot.

Exposure: 8.7 seconds, f/22, 12mm, ISO 250

Sydney Opera sails and silhouettes

This was taken at sunrise at the Sydney Opera House, with my friend Kenneth Cheung posing. I was sitting on the ground while taking this shot. I wanted to experiment with the light and the resulting silhouettes of the sails and my subject. A 0.6 GND filter was used for this shot.

Exposure: 1/50, f/22, 12 mm, ISO 250

Devil's cauldron

This is a tricky location to get to; it involves rock-hopping for 20 minutes in the dark if you want to get sunrise shots. It was definitely worth it. This was taken at sunrise and with 0.6 GND Lee filters.

Exposure: 1/2.5, f/13, 24 mm, ISO 200
