Photography is a hobby that I enjoy as a means of escaping the stress of university, but also to appreciate the beauty of Tasmania. In the future I would like to expand into portraiture, but for now I'll have to see where life takes me ...

My main interest lies in waterscapes, but at times I like to deviate and explore other areas of photography. In this gallery, I have included three different shots to my normal style of work which are that of urban exploring and infrared photography. Both are very different to waterscape photography and require long exposure times to get the correct exposure, however I love the different results.

I shoot with a Canon EOS 350D and use a Canon 10-22mm and Canon 24-70mm lens combination which allows me ultra-wide capabilities and a little zoom where necessary. In most of my photographs, I utilise a Cokin ND grad set-up which works great for waterscape photography as it allows longer exposures whilst not blowing out highlights in the sky.

This is one of those times when you look at a beautiful red sky and wish you were in the right spot. This was one of those days and luckily I was in that right spot. For this shot I used a Canon EOS 350D and the 18-55mm kit lens. This shot was exposed at 13" at F/16.

A sunrise five minutes from Hobart city. It was the earliest I had been up all year so I was pretty keen to get some nice shots. However, upon arriving and setting up my tripod and gear I switched on the camera and it didn't want to work. I was pretty frustrated but then it randomly started working and has done since. For this shot I used a Canon 350D, Canon 10-22mm lens, Cokin ND grad .6 and .9 filters and a tripod. The exposure was 2" at F/10.

Underneath a busy highway somewhere. For this shot the scene was pitch dark which required me to use a combination of torch and flash to properly light the scene. Scene was shot with a Canon 350D, 10-22mm lens at F/9 for 83".

An empty grandstand on a freezing cold evening. The orange lights from the nearby shipping yard provided a nice colour on the window. This shot was with a Canon 350D and Canon 10-22mm lens and used a F/10 at 80".

Snug Falls, Tasmania. I don't usually like high dynamic range (HDR) imagery as it looks overly fake. I was quite happy with the original of this shot but felt it lacked detail around the rocks of the waterfall. I combined four different exposures at varying shutter speeds which brought out the detail I was after.

The setting of this scene was pitch dark and required a torch to light the scene on a long 58 second exposure at F.35. A very interesting scene which is constructed with bricks that have convict stamp markings.
