Can Siri and Energy find synergy? (pictures)
The Elgato Eve Energy Switch and Power Meter works with HomeKit, but misses the mark on features and design.
The Elgato Eve Energy Switch and Power Meter is another smart plug in a saturated market. Question is, does it do anything new?
You can control plugged-in accessories using the Elgato Eve, and it will show the amount of energy being used to power them. You can even expand a chart that shows your energy usage over time.
The Elgato Eve Energy is relatively compact, but you'll still want to use it on bottom outlets so you don't block any.
The main menu offers plenty of information, organizing devices by type, room and zone. It also features additional tools to control guest access and name scenes so Siri understands you.
Once you name a scene, activating it using Siri is surprisingly natural. Instead of saying "activate scene" or "trigger scene," you can say something as simple as "Good morning, Siri."
The edge of Eve Energy, though simple, offers a subtle lip to make gripping it easier.
The Elgato app also works with other HomeKit-enabled products, like these Lutron shades.
The Elgato Eve Energy Switch and Power Meter is available today for $50 on Amazon and at the Elgato website. Check out our full review for more information.
