Electrolux's AEG line in Germany has a handy new oven app, with hints towards some impressive new features.

Right now both this steam oven and the oven-connected version accompanying Let's Taste iOS and Android app are only available in the German market, but Electrolux is considering expanding both, including to the U.S.

The oven itself is a CombiSteam unit, a line the company released last year that lets you cook using a steam-based method similar to sous vide. It can also perform traditional convection cooking.

The Let's Taste app is new to Electrolux, and it offers familiar recipe, diagnostic and programming functions, wrapped in a very clean, intuitive interface.

One unique feature of the app is this food pairing option for searching ingredients. It can help you make recipes and match dishes on the fly by showing you which kinds of food items go well together.

You get the typical recipe search functions as well, along with a social feed, and other features.

And of course you can queue up a recipe and send the cooking time and temperature directly to the oven.

The most unique feature of Let's Taste is the viewer for the camera built directly into the oven. The camera is still a concept, and likely not out for another two or three years, but the benefit of being able to monitor your food remotely is an obvious one.

The camera was in a low resolution mode due to the busy trade show networking environment, but we're told it can produce a finer image (no resolution specs were forthcoming).
