8-inch, 16:9 aspect ratio screen
Some 8-inch tablets are jumping on the 4:3 aspect ratio trend for better browsing and reading experiences, but the Dell Venue 8 keeps it at 16:9 with a 1,280x800-pixel-resolution IPS screen.
Red or black back
The Venue 8 -- which also comes in red or black like the 7-inch Dell Venue-- starts at $189 with 16GB of storage and will also come in a 32GB model.
Rear camera
The 8-inch slate houses a 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2GHz Clover Trail processor. It ships with Android 4.2.2, but will upgrade to KitKat sometime after the OS is ready.
May I have some more storage?
The Venue 8 comes with either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage, but if that isn't enough, it packs a microSD card slot.
Slim frame
The Venue 8 is rather light and compact, but it's nowhere near the high-end designs some models are rocking.
Basic build
Buttons on the Venue 8 are limited to the power button and volume rocker. Ports are limited to a single Micro-USB.
Selfie-taker
The front-facing 2-megapixel shooter is an average -- but expected -- feature.
