Dell has stopped messing about with teaser shots and finally released official pictures of its super-skinny Adamo XPS, the second in its series of laptops designed to make the MacBook Air look like Pavarotti -- sort of.

It's a good thing too, because the Adamo XPS is sexier than Megan Fox in that film she did with the cars who could turn into robots or whatever. It measures a horribly malnourished 9.9mm at its thinnest point, 340mm at its widest, and is 274mm deep, so it's wider and deeper, but half as thick, than the 325mm by 227mm by 19mm MacBook Air is at its thinnest point. That said, it's also a tad heavier -- 1.44kg versus the Air's 1.36kg.

The Adamo XPS' most interesting feature is its hinge, which is weirder than Megan Fox in that actual world place we live right now. It's mounted a quarter of the way up the lid, so when it opens, the metal-tipped keys are angled to (in theory) provide a more ergonomic typing position.

Being part of Dell's flagship XPS range, the new Adamo has some spiffy internal components. It's slated to get an Intel Core 2 Duo ULV CPU clocked at 1.4GHz, 4GB of RAM, an LED-backlit 13.4-inch, 1,366x768-pixel screen, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and (disappointingly) integrated Intel graphics. I/O is restricted to an Ethernet port, two USBs and DisplayPort.

The Adamo XPS is schedule to arrive before Christmas this year and should retail for somewhere in the region of $1,800 (£1,080). Personally, we'd prefer a Megan Fox, but we're not holding out much hope on that front, so we're off to pen an Adamo XPS-themed begging letter to Santa pronto.

Dell's Adamo XPS could be cuddling up to you this Christmas. Unlike Megan Fox.
