Touch to toast with the Cuisinart CPT-440 (pictures)
This fancy toaster works hard to justify a $100 price tag.

The Cuisinart CPT-440 is a high-end toaster with a leverless, "touch-to-toast" design. Click through for a closer look.
Room for four
The CPT-440 features dual controls and four slots in total.
Dual crumb trays
There are also two separate crumb trays in the back.
Thick profile
Like most four-slice toasters, the CPT-440 is a bit boxy.
A toaster gauntlet
You'll be able to toast using different settings on each side of the toaster. In this test, we cooked frozen waffles to a crispy six out of seven on the left, while simultaneously setting Pop-Tarts to toast at a light two of seven.
Eggo time
The waffles came out fully cooked, lightly browned and deliciously crisp.
Pop-Tarts, too
Meanwhile, those Pop-Tarts came out nice and hot, but only lightly toasted -- exactly the result we wanted.
Oh, and it makes toast
For toast, you get seven shade settings. Here are the results at a one, a four, and a seven. Looks good to me -- especially that nice, even, golden-brown toast in the middle.
Bagel bummer
One weak spot: the bagel preset, which didn't toast terribly evenly. Didn't stop us from eating the test results, though.
Price point
At $100 (just under £65, converted), this is a relatively pricey toaster. Are the fancy features worth it? Read our full review to find out.
