Cree shines a light on three-way LEDs (pictures)
Cree is the first big-name bulb maker to add a three-way LED to its roster.
Behold! A new, three-in-one Cree
Cree's new three-way LED costs $25 (£15, AU$27) in the US, with UK and Australian prices and availability yet to be announced.
It can transition between 320, 820, and 1,620 lumens (equivalent to 30W, 60W, and 100W).
The 30W replacement setting.
The 60W replacement setting.
The 100W replacement setting.
It uses just 3W, 8W, and 18W, depending on the setting.
This bulb's 2,700K color temperature makes it a reasonable replacement for standard incandescents.
The fine print says that this bulb is "suitable for damp locations."
The design is very similar to existing Cree bulbs.
This bulb has a 25,000-hour expected lifespan -- that's nearly 3 years.
It also comes with a 10-year warranty.
It's designed for standard fixture mounts.
It costs $15 more than Cree's $9.97 60W replacement LED, but only $5 more than Cree's $19.97 100W replacement LED.
