With tweaked specs, a longer lifespan, and a longer warranty, too, Cree's doubling down on its 4Flow bulb design.
Less than a year after its debut, the Cree 4Flow LED is getting a refresh. Click through to see what's new.
The new 4Flow LED looks exactly like the old one -- the only way to tell them apart is to read the fine print at the base of the bulb -- the old bulb used 11 watts, while the new one uses 9.8.
That identical design includes the convection vents at the top and bottom of the bulb that give the 4Flow its name. Thanks to thermodynamics, hot air flows out and cooler air flows in.
Along with the lower wattage, the new 4Flow boasts a slight uptick in its color rendering capabilities, which determine how accurately it illuminates different tones. It also boasts a longer lifespan and a better warranty.
Despite the upgrades, the Cree 4Flow LED still sells for the same price -- $8 at Home Depot. Does that make it an even better buy than before? Read our full review to find out what we think.
