It's cosplay Australia-style at PAX gaming confab
The fifth annual PAX AUS convention in Melbourne, Australia, features more foam, face paint and kickass LED work than you can shake a regulation prop sword at.
Neon Strike Vi
Let's kick things off with one of the most vibrant cosplays at PAX AUS: this fab League of Legends Neon Strike Vi from Aussie cosplayer Phunkee Bones. Technically, LoL cosplay counts as arm day for your workout.
Doom Slayer
Whipped up by Aussie cosplay creators Scrap Shop Props, this Doom Slayer was built in just 18 days -- and it was one of the best outfits on the show floor.
Scorpion
Scorpion from Mortal Kombat had an impressive collection of chains.
Mei
Overwatch was a favourite again at PAX AUS, with local cosplayer Black Apple donning her fur boots on the show floor.
Overwatch
Genji, Hanzo and Soldier 77 unite outside the main hall at PAX AUS.
Reaper
This cosplayer definitely captured the essence of Overwatch's Reaper.
Hanzo
Who says maining Hanzo is a bad thing?
Mordekaiser and Thresh
League of Legends representing at PAX (and winning prizes for terrifying-looking spikes).
Fallout meets Overwatch
A vault suit seems like appropriate gear for braving PAX. Wearing fur on a warm spring day? We salute that even more.
Ultimate Carrot
Ultimate Carrot from the digital card game Shadowverse was technically a paid mascot appearing at the Shadowverse booth, but he deserves an honourable mention for being so terrifying.
Marvel vs. DC
In between guarding Atlantis and, well, the galaxy, Aquaman and Star-Lord bro out on the PAX show floor.
D.va
Police officer D.va reporting for duty.
Mario Kart
They ran off after this photo was taken, racing each other. It was awesome.
Tusken Raider
It is Star Wars season, after all.
Gerald of Rivia
Gerald is in between video game and Netflix releases right now, so he's got some time on his hands.
Junkrat
There were plenty of excellent Junkrats at PAX AUS, but this one won points for LED lights in the hair, detachable grenades and a serious commitment to the peg leg.
Silent Hill ... and a pirate
To be fair, pirates have seen some messed up stuff, but we'd expect more of a response when faced with the nurses of Silent Hill.
Borderlands Bandit
We spotted this bad-ass bandit on the show floor, complete with very commendable cell-shading.
Aloy
The heroine from Horizon: Zero Dawn. It's good timing for this particular cosplay, with the game's Frozen Wilds DLC due to come out early next month.
Rick
Rick, of "Rick and Morty" fame, in human form. No Pickle Rick yet.
Galena
Sydney professional cosplayer Henchwench worked on her version of Galena from Quake for just 18 days, custom painting the chain mail and layers of foam armour.
Daedric Armour
Finding frightening women in Skyrim Daedric Armour is par for the course outside the main hall of PAX.
