New 'The Walking Dead' trailer, dissected shot by shot

Our hero Rick looks rather Zen in this rare but peaceful moment on "The Walking Dead."

When Negan smiles, you know you're in trouble.

Gabriel looks concerned... and for good reason. Walkers are at the window and Negan is in too good of a mood.

Carol pontificates on posies while Tara eats a Twizzler.

Carl searches for weapons and discovered a very deceased (hopefully) driver.

Daryl watches as a horde of walkers slowly make their way to him.

The view outside must be pretty disturbing.

Even grand mansions look creepy in a "Walking Dead" trailer.

Aaron's bloodied hands make us wonder who exactly he was using as a punching bag.

There's no dialogue in the first half of the trailer, but it's pretty easy to lip-read the word, "Bang."

Dwight gets a note that says, "Tomorrow." Could this be a sign of revolution in the ranks?

Carol lurks behind a door in the kind of creepy hallway that makes you think of Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining." 

That's one way to keep score of how many walkers and humans you've killed with a gun.

Whatever is in that plastic bag, this walker wants it. Here's hoping it's a masterful trap and not just a way to torment the undead.

Who is watching Aaron through a pair of binoculars? 

This could be one of our heroes in trouble or a Savior trying his best to keep an eye on activities outside.

This isn't the best kind of welcoming crowd. One can only conclude they are all looking at a common foe.

Daryl, Tara, Carol and Morgan all stare at the building in the distance.

"Thank you, your majesty, for being such a cool dude," Jerry says to Ezekiel.

The walkers seem to be following the vehicles like an undead pride parade.

Daryl makes riding a motorcycle in the middle of a walker war look like fun. 

There are a lot of different kinds of walker corpses in this shot. Metal dumped over the walker in the background -- usually by Eugene to hold things in place.

Daryl and Rick are prepared for battle using their favorite weapons.

Ezekiel rallies the Kingdom's troops in the woods. 

The raising of a fist often means, "Hold your fire."

Whenever there's a close-up on Rick's tense face, chances are things are about to get worse.

Walkers might be gathering by the hundreds below, but that doesn't mean Carol and Tara can't take a break.

If you're going to ambush walkers, or pesky humans, it's good to be heavily armed. 

This is not the crowd you want to have an argument with. 

Carl looks mighty handy with his trusty gun.

We'd follow Carol into a walker battle any day.

Shiva does not look happy.

With all this human-on-human fighting, it's nice to be reminded that "The Walking Dead" is supposed to be about these guys.

When Negan is mad, that's cause to celebrate.

Here's a walker grin only a walker mother could love.

Jadis and the Scavengers gather to have a confab, but what about?

Carl gets a little love from this walker, but will he survive?

Does the cane mean we're in a new era of walking sticks without walkers?

Yet another explosion makes this trailer fun to watch.

White beard and a ragged old Rick gives us all hope that he'll get out of season 8 alive. Of course, this could also mean we get a time jump just like in "The Walking Dead" comic books.
