Ahead of the Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona, Motorola has taken the wraps off the new Moto E -- a budget mobile with 4G LTE data speeds, the latest Android Lollipop software and expandable storage.

It's on sale globally from today and will set you back £109 in the UK or $119 in the US. Australian availability isn't known at the time of writing.

The Moto E arrives with the latest version of Google's mobile operating system, Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Unlike other manufacturers, Motorola doesn't apply its own skin over the top of the software, so you're essentially getting vanilla Android.

It has the same silvery speaker bar at the top as we saw on its predecessor.

The 4.5-inch screen has a 960x540-pixel resolution. It seems pretty bright too.

The stock Android navigation buttons are found at the bottom of the phone.

It's fairly chunky, but comfortable to hold.

The back isn't removable, but a thin strip of plastic will clip off.

Underneath that strip is where you'll find the microSD card slot for expanding the internal storage.

A 5-megapixel camera sits on the back of the phone.

Not a bad bit of kit, for the price.
