Philips announced a skinnky new spin on the BR30 bulb shape. Click through for a closer look at this slim new option for household lighting.
The Philips SlimStyle BR30 LED distributes its diodes across a uniquely flat surface, which eliminates the need for bulky, aluminum heat sinks.
The SlimStyle BR30 is a follow-up to Philips' original SlimStyle LED, a flattened A19 bulb that arrived in stores just this March.
The flat, slimmed down shape and the lack of heat sinks makes the 3.6-ounce SlimStyle LED a much lighter bulb than other standard-shaped BR30 LEDs.
The SlimStyle BR30 LED uses 9.5 watts to put out 650 lumens at a color temperature of 2,700 K.
The SlimStyle BR30 LED features a common E26 base, which should fit into almost all common North American fixtures.
The SlimStyle BR30 LED is fully dimmable, and promises a 25,000-hour lifespan.
Philips will begin selling the SlimStyle BR30 online in July for an MSRP of $12.97. It's expected to arrive in stores by August.
