Canon's EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM supertelephoto is set to debut in May with a price of about $9,500. Compared to its predecessor, it's 18 percent lighter and gets better image stabilization and optical performance.

Canon's EF 500mm f/4L IS II USM supertelephoto has a new image stabilization mode designed to make it easier to track moving subjects. And the notched ring between the rubberized focus and zoom rings can be used to operate the lens in "power focus" mode for smoothly changing focus geared for video usage.

Canon's EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM supertelephoto is due to ship in June with a price of $12,000. It's 27 percent lighter than the first-generation model.

Canon's EF 600mm f/4L IS II USM supertelephoto will work well with its third-generation 1.4x and 2.0x teleconverters, Canon says.
