This is Cal. He says his home theater isn't too fancy, but he's upgraded its components over the years "piece-by-piece as the budget allows."
Cal's man cave is part our Show Us Yours series that gives us -- the CNET editors -- the opportunity to show off CNET readers' home-entertainment systems, big and small, in real-world settings. You can submit photos of your setups here.
But before you do, have a look at Cal's setup.
Cal says: "The main view of my system. Note the stylish '70s wood finish on the walls."
Wide-angle view of the whole room. Cal says: "It's a little bright during the day, but it's great for watching movies at night."
The brains of the operation, a Pioneer VSX-530 AV receiver.
Sony BDP S280 Blu-ray player.
"I'm not much of a gamer," Cal says. "The Xbox 360 is my son's, so most of the games are his."
Center-channel speaker, Acoustic Profile PLS-C2.
12-inch Abstract Acoustics subwoofer. "Note the candles on the top," Cal says. "It greatly increases the spousal approval factor of a big black box."
Acoustic Profile surround speakers.
Cal's DVD/Blu-ray collection, with some VHS tapes mixed in. "We had a minor flood a number of years back and the VCR didn't make it back into the cabinet," Cal says.
X96 Android box for streaming movies/TV. "I cut my cable last month and haven't looked back," Cal says.
Cal says: "My most recent addition, a Vizio 55-inch 4K UHD smart TV. I know -- based on my room size, it's not big enough. But it's the biggest I could afford."
Cal says "My favorite part of the home theater (yes, I'm a speaker guy): my Paradigm Esprit 2-way floor standers."
Cal hasn't invested in a universal remote yet.
