Bosch, Siemens, and Miele show off the kitchens of the future at IFA (pictures)

BERLIN -- A group of Bosch white goods, silently rocking out. I like to think they're listening to Rage Against The Washing Machine or Coldplay.

Bosch's scientists are listening carefully to this fridge in case it quietly imparts the secrets of the universe.

In this cracking demo, this wee red ball is moving only a couple of inches, demonstrating how little this Bosch washing machine vibrates.

The best part of these white goods stands is the effort the companies go to to make boring products like washing machines exciting. At the Siemens stand, the big white ring rotates and the blue light swirls around.

This Siemens EQ.8 series 900 coffee machine keeps your water at 90-96C throughout the brewing process and has a two-stage extraction process for a tastier cuppa.

The EQ.8 series 900 has a full-colour TFT display to make your coffee selection feel extra-futuristic.

This ginormous Siemens fridge has a smart app that tells you what's left in it when you're at the store. Its VitaFresh tech keeps fruit fresh for five times longer and its vacuum drawer seals in smells from meat and fish.

The Siemens stand is one of the most impressive at IFA 2013, with a huge video wall.

Miele does some seriously fancy coffee machines that you plumb directly into your wall. Double pleasure indeed.
