One of the best PC deal: a Microsoft Surface 4 Pro for $600. It comes with 128GB of storage, an Intel Core M3 processor, a stylus -- and the detachable keyboard cover (usually sold separately) is included in this package. CNET Senior Editor Dan Ackerman called the Surface 4 Pro "the gold standard for Windows tablets," though admittedly he was talking about a model with a more powerful processor.
Bargain-basement tablet ahoy: The 7-inch Amazon Fire is just $33.33 at Amazon, Target, Best Buy and Staples this Black Friday. It's the definition of entry-level, but it's not a bad pick if your giftee is an Amazon Prime member. That way, they'll have already have free movies, TV and music to start streaming.
Or better yet, pay just $60 for Amazon's new-and-improved Fire HD 8. Compared to the Fire 7, it's a better tablet in every way. Normally, it'd cost you $90. Find it for the new price at Amazon or Best Buy.
The Lenovo Yoga 900 is defined by its slim watchband-style hinge, which allows the Yoga to be used as a laptop or be flipped into a tablet mode. It's one of our favorite convertibles, and it's a steal for just $700 at Best Buy. It comes with a 256GB SSD for storage, an Intel Core i7 processor and 8GB of memory.
The HP Spectre x360 has a slick aluminum body, smooth 360-degree hinges, an excellent display and long battery life. It's a great high-end Windows laptop with a 2-in-1 design. You can snag 13-inch HP Spectre x360 for just $1,000 at Best Buy -- the high-end configuration with a Intel Core i7 processor, 16 gigabytes of memory and a 512GB solid-state drive for storage!
Don't want a Windows PC? Apple's 13-inch MacBook Air -- and its incredible battery life -- can be yours for $200 off the regular price. That's $800 for an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a meager 128GB of solid-state storage -- or $1,000 for 256GB of storage. (Normally they cost $1,000 or $1,200 respectively.) Just don't expect an amazing screen.
The 32GB model of Apple's most affordable, purse-friendly tablet is now just $200. Sure, you could have bought an iPad Mini 2 for the same price last year on Black Friday, too, but that was the entry-level 16GB model. (Normally, the 32GB model costs $270.)
But before you buy an iPad mini 2, you might want to consider this larger iPad Air 2 instead. It's faster, with an amazing glare-resistant display you won't find on the Mini 2, and it starts at just $275 from Target and from Best Buy on Black Friday.
A compact, super-easy-to-upgrade, VR-ready gaming PC with one of the best graphics cards, all for under $1,000? Yep. Dell's offering the Alienware Aurora R5 for just $999 with a Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive and the best part, an Nvidia GeForce 1070 graphics card with 8GB of VRAM.
One of the best deals on a VR-ready gaming laptop we've seen so far, the Gigabyte P55Wv6-NE2 comes with a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics, 16GB of memory, a 128GB solid-state boot drive, and 1TB of storage underneath a 15-inch 1080p IPS screen.
We haven't tried this one to be sure, but the specs look pretty great for $1,230 on Black Friday -- normally $1,500. Find it at Newegg.
Or, try the new Alienware 15 for just $1,299 (a $200 savings). It's also got a Core i7 processor, VR-ready Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics, 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage under a 15-inch 1080p IPS screen. No solid state boot drive here, but you do get Alienware's LED lighting, reputation, and build quality, plus compatibility with the Alienware graphics amp.
Pint-size gaming PC for cheap! You can pick up an Alienware Alpha for just $300 (normally $550) this Black Friday. You'll need to be quick on the trigger, though -- it's a doorbuster at Dell.com starting at 9am PT. Also, it's the base configuration with a Core i3 chip and 4GB of RAM, so you may have trouble with some of the very latest games.
You might also check out the Alienware Steam Machine, which runs Linux -- or Windows if you install it yourself. For just $374, Gamestop will offer a version with a Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. (Normally $749)
You really shouldn't buy a bargain-basement Windows laptop. But if you must, the Dell Inspiron 11 3000 isn't bad for just $100. Normally, it costs twice as much. You're looking at a meager 2GB RAM, 32GB of solid-state storage and an Intel Celeron processor.
Or get the same specs in a tiny desktop in the Inspiron Mini, also $100 on Black Friday.
Here's a better choice for a bargain laptop: $119 for a Samsung Chromebook 3 with 4GB of RAM that's normally $180. Chromebook means it only runs web and Android apps, but that makes it easier to use than a similarly priced Windows PC! Sadly, you'll need to line up at a Walmart store to get that price or pay $139, which is still a slight saving, at Best Buy.
It's one of our favorite 13-inch laptops, bar none, and Costco will sell one of the highest-end models at a $300 discount this Black Friday. It's got a Core i7 processor, 16GB of memory, 512GB of solid-state storage and a ultra high-res touchscreen with super slim bezels. If you want it, you'll need to go to an actual Costco store on Friday, though.
Okay, this version doesn't have the amazing OLED screen we loved in our review -- but the ThinkPad X1 Yoga is still a great backflipping laptop, and on Black Friday you can get one with a Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM and an (admittedly tiny, but upgradable) 128GB of storage for just $1,084.
