Best TVs under $4,000

These large TVs are the best you can get for under the $4,000 price point.

CNET reviewer David Katzmaier said of the P-Series Quantum: "It's hands-down Vizio's best TV ever, and one of the best-performing LCD TVs I've ever tested from any brand."

This TV comes in a 65-inch size only, and is available from Sam's Club for $1,999.00.

The Vizio P-Series Quantum gets its name from the quantum dots it uses to achieve a wider color gamut. It has double the brightness of a regular Vizio P-Series model.

The only knocks against it are the clunky remote, and its slow-to-respond SmartCast system. And unlike the other TVs in this list, it's not an OLED, which you may want to start considering at this price point.

This minimalist-styled LG television "delivers perfect black levels, superb uniformity, wide viewing angles, accurate color and a great bright-room picture," David Katzmaier said.

You can find the 65-inch version at Walmart for $2,296.99, while the 55-inch version sells for $1,496.99.

While the more-expensive LG C8 has better image quality thanks to its newer video processor, the B8 series is almost as good (and much cheaper). And though LG's WebOS interface is snappy, you're likely better off connecting your own smart TV device such as the Apple TV 4K, which supports Dolby Vision.

Though its picture is not as good as that of an OLED TV, the Samsung Q8 has, per David Katzmaier, "excellent image quality, with deep black levels, prodigious brightness, accurate color, superb video processing and powerful high dynamic range performance."

You can find the 75-inch version on Amazon for $3,497.99, the 65-inch for $2,297.99, and the 55-inch for $1,599.99.

The Samsung Q8 has sleek and modern styling, plus a clean cable solution to reduce the appearance of clutter. The TV also has an ambient mode to better blend in with your décor when not in use.

The best-performing TV that CNET has tested as of May 2018, the LG C8 features slightly improved screen uniformity and image quality over the less-expensive B8 series. It's not as bright as some competing LED TVs, though.

You can find the 65-inch model on Amazon for $2,696.99, while the 55-inch model sells for $1,696.99.

We absolutely love how razor-thin the LG C8 is, measuring just 1.75 inches deep at its most bulky point. Its swooping, large stand leaves something to be desired, though that's not a problem if you mount this TV on your wall.

While the Vizio P-Series may not be as stylish as the Samsung Q8, according to Katzmaier, it has "excellent overall image quality, with exceedingly deep black levels, plenty of brightness, rich contrast and superb video processing anchored by a true 120Hz panel."

You can buy the 75-inch model at Walmart for $1,998.00.

"The P-Series is still a great step-up choice if you don't want to pay extra for an 'S' brand," Katzmaier noted. You won't get OLED quality, but you do get a budget-friendly TV with 120 dimming zones.

This Sony Bravia has excellent image quality, with deep black levels, accurate color, solid video processing and very good high dynamic range performance.

Though it was expensive when it first came out, the price has since dropped to $2,798.00 on Amazon.

We love the modern, minimalist styling on this Bravia. But unless you're willing to pay a premium for it (and the Sony name, too), you'll find better value with the competing Vizio P-Series and the new 75-inch TCL 6 Series.

A step up in quality (and price) from the Q8, the Samsung Q9 "has the best overall picture quality of any non-OLED TV I've reviewed, with exceedingly bright highlights, inky black levels with minimal blooming and best-in-class off-angle and bright-room performance," according to CNET's David Katzmaier.
