Behind the (tech) scenes at RAFW

Amidst the glitz, glamour and sky-high heels of Australian Fashion Week there's plenty of room left for technology.

Tweeter's anonymous

HP and Intel are two of the sponsors of Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (RAWF), currently underway in Sydney.

Amidst the glitz, glamour and sky-high heels, there's plenty of room left for technology, with a range of devices scattered around the venue to make blogging, tweeting and writing easier.

Do I hear the phrase "event"? I hear custom hashtag and a live tweet wall as well. Panels with rolling tweet updates greet visitors at the entrance to the hall at the Overseas Passenger Terminal.

Media circus

Just next to the main event is the HP and Intel media centre.

Is it noon yet?

With HP TouchSmarts, Envy Beats Edition laptops and Envy e-print printers laid out for all to use, the media area is divided into separate sections for bloggers and writers, as well as a dedicated area for photographers and videographers to edit their work.

The main event

Back in the main building there are more TouchSmart 610s for fashion buyers to use, allowing them to download lookbooks and contact information on the free USB sticks.

Scratch me happy

In the VIP area, a DJ provides tunes after hours with a Beats laptop nestled in between the decks. We were particularly worried when we saw Windows Media Player as the audio program of choice, though...

Cold as ice

Yes, there's even an HP fridge.

Decked out

A model gets interviewed for a TV segment. Nothing particularly noteworthy about the tech here, but we'll take that broadcast camera, please.

Fashionistas

For those labels that aren't showing on the main stages this year, a dedicated area is provided for them to sell their wares.

Blog it up

Little Joe designer Gail Elliott and supermodel Yasmin Le Bon take a bow at the end of the show. The winner of HP's blogger competition, Jessica Maystein (far right), tweets and photographs all the RAFW shows she can manage from the front row.
