Apple's new Apple TV hands-on (photos)
CNET takes a look at Apple's upgraded, 1080p-capable Apple TV set-top box and the new operating system.
Apple TV 2012
While the new unit looks the same on the surface, most of the changes are under the hood. The Apple TV now features a 1080p resolution and a single-core A5 chip.
New interface
The Apple TV interface has been upgraded, but doesn't yet support downloadable apps.
1080p content
Users can now download 1080p movies and TV shows from the iTunes Store
More changes
Other changes include the ability to redownload purchased movies through iCloud and "Genius" recommendations for movies. The Photo Stream resolution has been bumped up to 1080p.
New operating system
The new version 5 software is also available for existing Apple TV boxes from today.
Remote
The Apple TV retains the metallic remote.

Genius recommendations
Based on the purchase of Louie, Genius was able to suggest similar content including Party Down and Parks and Recreation
Choosing a resolution
While locked to 720p on the existing Apple TV, the new 2012 model supports 1080p
