Get ready for a world first! An iPad unboxing in the shadow of the Opera House!

In-studio unboxings are a bit boring and we wanted to get out of the office. To prove that these were Aussie pics we had to somehow incorporate something uniquely Australian. We didn't have a Boxing Kangaroo, or should that be ... an ... Un-boxing Kangaroo...?

So, despite the odd glances and harsh morning glare, we conducted our unboxing of the brand new iPad at Circular Quay, Sydney.

The iPad box looks eerily like the iPhone's, only enlarged.

The bag it comes in is way too big. And don't wrap the cord around your hands or this might happen.

The iPad isn't protected inside the box, as there is only minimal cushioning. So don't sit on the package on the way home.

The accessories include a one-page set-up guide, stickers, dock connector, power plug and cable.

OMG. It's the iPad. (Note that the blotch on the author's wrist is a pass-out stamp from a live performance, he is not a Dickensian urchin.)

The device has been touted as an e-reader, but even on an overcast day we found the screen to be quite reflective. The ghost of Jørn Utzon looks on.
