Android Wear unveiled: LG G Watch and Moto 360 (pictures)

Google's next step in wearables beyond Google Glass includes smartwatches and a whole lot more. Motorola and LG have the first two visions of where Google's wearables are headed.

I started with CNET reviewing laptops in 2009. Now I explore wearable tech, VR/AR, tablets, gaming and future/emerging trends in our changing world. Other obsessions include magic, immersive theater, puzzles, board games, cooking, improv and the New York Jets. My background includes an MFA in theater which I apply to thinking about immersive experiences of the future.

Google has announced Android Wear, which will shrink Android onto a variety of new wearable devices. The first Android Wear-powered devices unveiled so far are the LG G Watch and Moto 360, both coming this summer. They're sharp-looking watches that show off how Google Now and other core services will work on a wrist. More details will be coming soon, but for now, take a look for yourself.

The LG G Watch looks to have a more traditional square-type display, but a similar UI and interface. That's the idea: Android Wear will have a consistent feel across devices.

Just like Google Now on a phone, your travel information and other details should show up.
