An $8,500 see-through fridge and more from the ritzy LG Signature lineup
LG offered us a look at its shiny, expensive new Signature line of high-end home appliances -- here's everything we saw.
LG gave us a sneak peek of the new "Signature" line of high-end home appliances earlier this year at CES. Now, with the end of the year drawing closer, the Korean manufacturer is ready to lift the curtain on its fanciest, most expensive appliances. Click through for a tour of all the bells and whistles.
LG Signature Refrigerator
Up first, let's look at the new LG Signature refrigerator (model LUPXS3186N), out now. It's a Wi-Fi smart fridge that's packed with some interesting features, and it costs $8,500 (yep, you read that correctly).
Four-door design
LG offered the press a hands-on tour of the fridge. It's a four-door design, with the fridge up top and the freezer down below.
Capacity
You get a whopping 31 cubic feet of total storage space -- plenty of room for a whole family's worth of groceries.
Freezer down below
The bottom half of the fridge is where you'll store your frozen goods. There's also a special sensor at the very bottom of the refrigerator -- swipe your foot underneath it, and the fridge doors will open automatically.
Double down
Because of that four-door design, the freezer is actually split into two separate compartments.
See-through design
The real star of the show is up top, though. Take a look at that dark door on the right. It's a two-way panel that turns translucent when you give it a knock.
See for yourself
See? The door turns see-through, letting you see what's inside while the doors are closed.
LG Signature OLED TV
LG was also happy to show off the 77-inch version of the LG Signature OLED TV (model OLED77G6P). The cost? A mere $20,000 -- though to be fair, the 65-inch version costs less than half that much, at $8,000. That model is available now, while the bigger version will be available for preorder by the end of October.
Picture quality
OLED, HDR, Dolby Vision, deep blacks -- this TV basically offers it all as far as picture quality is concerned.
So, so thin
It's super thin, too, coming in at less than 3 millimeters thick, or about the same as a couple of credit cards.
Dolby Vision
LG is promising an enhanced HDR experience thanks to the inclusion of Dolby Vision.
Soundbar base
The base even doubles as a soundbar.
LG Signature Air Purifier
But wait, there's more! Who needs to spend 20 grand on a TV when you can spend $1,700 on the LG Signature Air Purifier (model AM501YWM1)? You'll be able to do exactly that when it arrives by the end of this year.
Specs
So what does $1,700 worth of air purifier buy you? Take a look for yourself.
Voila
Here it is, in all of its air-purifying glory. It also doubles as a humidifier, and can cover up to 300 square feet.
The tank
You'll find the display here on the front. Those LED lights change from red to blue as the air quality improves.
Purple?
Purple? Someone must have lit a cigarette in the back or something.
Controls on top
You'll control the purifier with these controls up top.
Handy remote
You can also control it from the comfort of your couch with this handy remote that'll you'll definitely never misplace.
LG Signature Combo Twin Wash System
Next up, the LG Signature Combo Twin Wash System (model LUWM101HWA), which we first heard about earlier this year, at CES. It's an all-in-one laundry mega-machine that washes, dries and offers an extra sidekick washer down below. It'll cost you $3,700 when it arrives in the first few months of 2017.
Wash it all
Up top is your typical washer/dryer combo unit (albeit an awfully fancy one). Down below is the "sidekick," a second mini-washer that's designed to clean separate, small-sized loads.
Sidekick smarts
That sidekick isn't the only cool trick up this washer's sleeve. It's also Wi-Fi enabled, meaning it can send you alerts when a cycle is done, or when you're low on detergent.
Hardware
The Combo Twin Wash System uses a special inverter that LG claims cuts the dryer's energy consumption in half. It also uses some of the same technology used in automobile suspensions to ensure quiet, vibration-free performance.
LG Signature Washer
If you don't need an all-in-one unit, or if you don't want to spend $3,700 on your next washing machine, then how about the $2,000 LG Signature Washer (model WM9500HKA)? It's available now.
Specs
The Signature washer is a high-end version of LG's classic washing machine, and comes with the appealing TurboWash feature, which can shave up to 30 minutes off each wash.
Cycles galore
You'll find all of the controls and cycles you could ever want here on the front of the machine.
Steam cycles
That includes steam cycles, which come in handy if you want to deodorize something in a hurry (or if you just hate ironing).
Controls
Here's a close look at the controls, which include smart grid compatibility.
