Meet the Amazon Echo family

Amazon on Thursday launched at least 13 new hardware products at an event hosted at its Seattle headquarters, ranging from a DVR to a microwave oven to a wall clock (yes, really), all with compatibility with its Alexa voice assistant.

Echo Sub

Amazon is adding the ability for many of its Echo speakers to "stereo pair," so if you have two of them, one can be the left channel and one can be the right. And to enhance the bass, there's the new Echo Sub, a $130 subwoofer that adds the ".1" channel to the setup.

Amazon first introduced the $150 Echo Plus last year, improving the audio of its original smart speaker and making the Plus more connective to separate smart-home devices.

Connecting is a snap

Stereo pairing: Connect two Alexa smart speakers to create a stereo pair. Just plug in, open the Alexa app on your phone, and you can connect your Echo devices wirelessly to control music with your voice.

The new $150 Echo Plus adds a temperature sensor and a new fabric design, similar to the new Echo Dot's.

The $300 Amp gives you a built-in amplifier, while the $200 Link allows you to control your current AV receiver. Both require a separate Echo device to work with Alexa as there are no mics or speakers built in.

The coax connector lets you connect an antenna to record over-the-air broadcasts. It will be available later this fall in two versions: the two-tuner 500GB model for $230, and the four-tuner version with 1TB of storage for $280.
