Drop aims to abolish inexact baking (pictures)

Adaptics' Drop is a smart baking scale with a free iOS app.

Simply download the app and tap the LED sensor on the scale, and start baking.

It works on the iPad 3 and higher as well as all iPad Air and Mini models (an Android model is in the works).

The recipes vary from very easy to more complex concoctions and there are sweet and savory options to choose from. I made Double Chocolate Muffins and Quick Bread with Herbs.

The Drop is powered by a CR2477 coin cell battery and is supposed to last for at least a year. It also operates on Bluetooth at low energy.

The Drop app will walk you through everything, from preheating the oven to mixing ingredients and reminding you to let your food cool.

Pure Imagination's Perfect Bake scale is very similar to the Drop.

But the Drop definitely has the lock on smart-looking design.
